Coned again

My poor pup-pup of a daughter has her cone on again. When was the first time? When she got neutered. This time she has a spot on her back right by her nub of a tail that she keep licking and biting at, I call it "butt chewing". In any case it is all red and swollen and irritated, so t prevent any further "butt chewing" I put her (overly priced from the vet) cone aka Elizabethan collar back on. Poor pup-pup is humiliated. Grammie and I gave her a bath with a skin sensitive shampoo last night and then put some neosporin on it, hopefully this will make it better, otherwise there is a vet visit in our future.

Try, try again

At first you don't succeed try, try again...or give it another purpose. Remember that doggie coat I made for Whiskey? Well it needs some modifications so I put it on the dining room chair to get started again after a lunch break, well I went to find my glass for some more tea and found this:

...I guess its not Whiskey's coat anymore, its Chatterbox's bed now. Which I am gladly to give him since I was to re-try to the coat again.

2nd Issue:

For those who know my I'm not an ultra pink loving girly girl. And in return neither is my dog.
I found a collar that I love for her,but everyone at the park calls HER a HIM. I suppose her name isn't much help either "Whiskey", although I will call her "Bunny" while at the park.

You be the judge: boy or girl?

Arts and Crafts

The two days that I have had off I've been looking at blogs and getting ideas. I wanted to get/make Whiskey a coat for when its cool outside, but in stores I can never find one that I like the print (that its not too girly looking) or the right size for her. I found a few online, but one seemed quiet simple to make. Me and my mad sewing skills. I decided to break out the sewing machine and try my own. This was just a prototype, and it just needs a few minor adjustments. but overall for my first try its not too bad.
Making this puppy coat was not as easy as it seems, especially when you have 3 kitty furry friends helping you and a puppy wandering all over the house.

"What mom, am I in the way?"

"OK, I'll just roll over."

The two pieces face-to-face (as pillow fashion) sew 3/4 of it and leave one side open to flip inside out. When I flipped it inside out i added the quilting batting.

Nice and poofy with the batting inside and i just sewed an "X" down the back so it didn't look so "pillow-like".

Whiskey wearing her new coat, she must be embarrassed, cause I had to coax her out of her kennel to put it one, and then after the picture was done she went back in.

Been a looooong time...

...I know its been a long time since I have been in the blog world, but nothing has been quite so "blog-worthy". I have my darling dog that I have been taking to the dog park, and have now recently found some doggy blogs to follow, especially Corgi doggy blogs. I was reading some of them and all us Corgi owners have something in common- We LOVE the "rabbit butt". I'm staring to think I should have named my baby "Bunny". That is a nickname that is used quite a lot, but her real name, the name on her tag is Whiskey. Which makes since too, she is like a lil shot of whiskey. At this very moment my lil "bunny" is sitting on "granpapies" lap for some petting. Half the time she thinks she's a lap dog, the other half she thinks she is a Rottweiler trapped in this little bitty body.

I haven't delved fully into the Corgi blogs I am following, but it must be a Corgi thing that she chews and destroys almost all her toys, especially the squeaky ones. The only ones she hasn't destroyed is a Kong and Nylabone. (Which are basically indestructible even by German Shepard).

She now has a new puppy cousin that she needs to meet, and I can't wait for that to happen. :-)

Tradition

Passing through this Christmas season it got me thinking... I want an annual tradition. The main reason I started thinking about this is: every Christmas Eve my family and I go to a very good friends house and have dinner drinks, and just have fun. Part of these festivities that started more than 20 years ago was a fruit cake. 20 some odd years ago, someone brought a fruitcake to the party. The party host (being as always witty and sarcastic) "What am I supposed to do with a fruit cake. Yuck." So through the course of the party she wrote every bodies name on a slip of paper and put inside a plastic zip top bag. When the party started winding down she got one of the smaller kids to draw a name. The name drawn had to take the fruit cake home. They didn't want it either so they said "I'm bringing it back next year" and hence a tradition started. Every Christmas Eve THIS SAME fruit cake has been passed from freezer to freezer and brought back to the original house. This year...my family has it for the first time in over 20 years! For the past 3 years I have drawn the name from the bag, the same person got it for 3 years from my picking. This year she would NOT let me even near that bag.

Now to my point: I want a family/friend Christmas tradition to do every year. My friends and I have tried, for the past 3 years we have had Christmas eve breakfast at Ihop. This year, with all of us out of (or almost out of) college, married, or parents have moved not all of us were in FL for this breakfast. Same basic concept its kind of just happened that everyone comes to my house after Christmas dinner and has dessert and drinks (on the kitchen floor of course). Last year and now this year I am holding the New Years Eve party. I really hope this can continue though out the years, but I'm not sure how probable that is.

Any one have any ideas for an ANNUAL Christmas tradition that can take place when we are all gathered or even when we are in different locations. Suggestions will be great!

Leave of Absense

Not that many people read my blog(s), but just in case. There will not be any updates on my blogs for the next few days. I am leaving for St. Louis for vacation, (and although the one person that reads my blog, Twinny, already knows this). There will be no time for blogging.
Happy Holidays to all, and hopefully I can dazzle you with some new recipes when I get back, for The Irish Chef bog, and new stories and experiences for this one.

Ideas

I subscribe to a few magazines. Some of my recipes on The Irish Chef are from said magazines.
I got in the mail today a bunch of junk mail, but low-and-be-hold a magazine! That is a major highlight to the day. This day it was Family Circle. While flipping through the first few pages, which are usually the ads there was something that caught my eye. "What a card" hm... intriguing. I read on further. Basically it is a website that has cards, all kinds, birthday, anniversary etc. Its free to join, all you have to do is buy the cards you want. It has a built in calender and address book. You select a card, put the event in the calendar and address of whom it goes to, and when the time comes the site mails you the card (already addressed AND stamped) so all you have to do is write a message, sign it and mail it on its merry way! I think this is BRILLIANT!.
Whats the site you are jumping up and down asking: Jack Cards
