Merry Chirstmas (late) & End of 2011

Well, I've been reading every one's Christmas post and it seems like everyone had a good one. I noticed all our critters got spoiled. This year Whiskey and couldn't participate in the secret Santa, but it looks like everyone had a good time. Whiskey was no exception to the spoiled list. Here are some pictures from Christmas.

Sitting nicely by my parents' Christmas tree

Right after the "nice" picture was taken, she dove under the tree and pulled out a gift- and it was hers.

It was a Kong stuff fabric squeaker. She LOVES it.

This year for Christmas she was really into the unwrapping of gifts. She helped everyone unwrap gifts.

Josh and I got each other a panther jerseys!! :)

She got more spoiled from her Auntie Steph E and Sha'ire with the petsmart long dog.

She also got a Thundershirt from "Grammie" but we got a medium. Didn't quite fit so we went to PetCo today and got a large. It fits MUCH better. She's only had it on for an hour or so, but she seems to be doing well. It does not hinder her doing anything around the house. She has been a little calmer since I put it on, less growling at the cats. I guess we will really test it when I vacuum and/or Josh plays the guitar.

While we were at the pet store she got a new toy. Its a Kong Squezz. Really cool. Its a soft rubbery plastic with the squeaker inside the ball, so she can not pull it out and it seems less likey to die as quickly as others. Check it out here on the kong website for a better picture and you can see a section through the middle of the ball with the squeaker. I will write an updated post about it and its progress of dying or Whiskey's ability of destroying it.

Holiday Chaos

Well, hello fellow bloggers.

The Holiday season is well upon us now, and I know everyone is scrambling. (join the club). There has been some major "holiday" chaos here in our new apartment in FL. The other night Josh and i were in the living room watching tv, with the cats and dog wandering around. Whiskey went into the bed and moments later we hear chaos! We are not sure what happened or who started it but Mackie (our smallest kitten) was pinned against the wall and the dresser with Whiskey going after her. Talk about trauma (and I'm talking about me). I quickly grabbed Whiskey and put her in the spare room with the door closes screaming at Josh to find Mackie and make sure she was ok. Well she wans't (or not really at least). This is what our poor baby looked like:

She got beat up pretty good. She managed to do some of her own damage though, Whiskey had a nice cut wound above her eye from a claw. I was freaking out(!!!!) I do NOT do well with any type of blood, unless its my own. I was an absolute mess. We called my mom and all she made out from my frantic call was "Whiskey" and "blood". She came right over, gave Mackie a once over and said she looked fine. We gave her a bowl of water and wet food on the porch and she chowed down. After everything calmed down we checked on Whiskey and cleaned up her little scratch. Yesterday I noticed Mackie's right side of her face (cheek) was swollen. Just for safe measure we took her to the vet this morning and she checked out well, got a little bit of pain and antibiotics meds. Needless to say Whiskey has a muzzle coming in the mail, its a perfectly humane one and will only be on when we are home and the gate is open and all critters are wandering. It is a plastic basket muzzle where she will be allowed to pant and drink from. Hopefully it will be just temporary. Also my mom bought her the thunder shirt for Christmas and I hope that will help as well.

On a happy note, if I didn't have to take her to the vet (by my mom's house). We would not have checked out a few garage sale and I wouldn't have found (to me) my new dining room table for $15!

I hope everyone is having a slightly less chaotic holiday season.

Hello All! & Updates

Hello everyone!
I feel like a little bit of a failure, I haven't posted anything in a very long time. Even 2 of our fellow bloggers have new newborn babies and are able to post a few times. We didn't finally get cable and Internet in the house so I can finally use the computer. So this is going to be a bit of a random post filled with a lot of things that have happened. As I said in my last post Josh and I finally got settled into the new apartment. It defiantly is a bit of an adjustment, especially with all the critters, and being so close to other people Whiskey is hearing every little noise and barking. There was a actually a day that I had a meltdown and was crying to Josh that we had to down size the critters and that Whiskey would have to live with my mom. We got through that little bump, and I'm happy to say we still have all of our critters under one roof. We have met a few neighbors and one that is very nice.. because of course they have a corgi too. :-) Her name is Lady, or more formally, Lady Vader. Shes a sweet little tan and white pemmie girl, smaller than Whiskey, but I honestly think she is bigger than the average corgi anyways. She's about 7 years old, and the poor little thing was part of a small percentage that is allergic to the rabies vaccine and had a reaction, the fur on her ears it a little patchy and they are a little tender to the touch. Lady and Whiskey sure have similar personalities, both are very alpha, both strong personalities, and have little bit of a personal space/jealousy issues. I am hoping to get a picture of the 2 of them soon.

Now onto some pictures which I know we all enjoy :-) The first few pictures are from Halloween:

My friend David and my Pumpkin (a mask face and a CORGI)

Josh had to carry on the nerdy tradition of Star Wars took him a long time to carve this one

Now this picture we had a fudge a little. Josh was suppose to be out of work in time to go out with us on Halloween, but he ended up staying later so we took these after taking our Christmas photos.

This was taken the night we went out. I would have taken her trick or treating but there was a hockey game that night, so she spent the night at Grammies (my moms)

Next was Thanksgiving, and we have a tradition of photos of Josh holding out famous pumpkin cheesecake and making the first slice.

Our Christmas card this year. My original plan for the photo got squashed so this was the back up. I'm please with how they turned out.

Josh and I got our first Christmas tree together

I'm not a fan of a tree full of those "kitchy" ornaments, but we had to have a few and the starter ones are Star Wars.

I hope to post more often now that I have the access. How are your holiday plans coming along?
Also, I have read and seen a lot of things about pinterest.com but I cant really figure it out, it looks like you have to be invited to join....? If anyone has full access or hs firgured it out otherwise can you let me know. Thanks!!

Post full of updates

So it seems a lot of us bloggers have taken an unplanned mini blog hiatus. Real life gets in the ways sometime.
So this post is a lot of updates and ramblings and some thought I'd love to get input on.
First off: my boyfriend and I found am apartment and the past 2 weeks we have been moving things in and trying to settle. This is will the first time in 4 years we are living together so heres hoping all goes well-it seems to be good so far. We have his 3 kitties and whiskey coming with us. The cats are already at the apartment. With whiskey we are waiting a little while to get more settled before bring her over. We are renting a condo from the owner and the association has a weight limit on dogs. 25 pounds- whiskey is a tad bit more. However it makes me feel a little better that there are other corgis living in other building cause at least they know the breed a little. Another thing I am worried about it she barks. At everything. A leaf scraps the sidewalk 2 blocks way and she can hear it and will bark her little head off. Does any one have a solution to the obsessive barking? We've tried ignoring it we tried saying quite and treat. And nothing seems to stick. At some times I have to hold her mouth closed. Treats obviously work the best but when you give it to her she's quiet for a few seconds then starts up again. She does this when we home obviously but what about when are not. Is she just going to bark all day long? I have to stay at my parents hose for a few days to watch my mom's cats and my dog while she is visiting her sister. My boyfriend and I have decided that when mom gets back that's when we'll take whiskey to the apartment and get her groomed down a little- grooming her looks like she loses 10 pounds. I have already had a few melt downs about leaving her at my parents and going to our new home without her the past few weeks. I miss my stinker.
In other news: it's that time of year again for thinking of holiday pictures. I have the idea of what I want Josh and I to do-now just to execute. This year is going to have to be a little different however because whiskey will not/cannot be in the picture with us because of the location. I don't want to give too much away so you'll just have to wait for the uploads. Our critters will be on the cards though don't worry. Now here comes a question: I really enjoyed doing a card swap with many of you and I would love to participate again this year. Let me know if you are interested as well.
Also I am already making my Christmas list for my mom and everything blog/corgi related is on that list!! :-) I am so excited to get the calendars (that my little stinker is in all 3). And Paige I am in love with your corgi hats! Way to go being creative. I think that is all my updates/ramblings for the day. Please comments below about the barking and Xmas card exchange love to hear from your guys.

My Car is Corgi-ed Out!

Putting my cafe press stuff on my car was the first thing I did when I got home, cause I got my car back today!! I love the way everything looks, with a few minor details.

My best friends birthday gift to me, which may be my favorite part!

My dirty window bumper sticker. Now I don't know if i mentioned this in the post when I got them. I don't really like adhering stickers to my car so I went out and bought some magnet sheets to put the sticker on then put on my car. I originally wanted both of my "stickers" to go on the tail....but to my finding out, that part is plastic! Arg! I might see how well this works out and if I don't like it I'm going to reorder them and just suck it up and stick it! And use the magnet ones as refrigerator magnets.

And finally my Corgi Pals sticker that fits perfectly on my gas tank door. :-)

And for a side comment: I LOVE LOVE LOVE the mouse pad I got from Cafe Press with Kelly's design. I'd order one if I were you Kelly. :-)

Cafe Press Presents.

About a week ago I bought myself a present. I have been eyeing a few things on cafe press for a while and finally decided to by them. I placed my order on a Monday night. Wednesday or Thursday Josh comes over and brings in a package. I was so excited! And WOW was that fast. I opened my package and starting digging the things out:

The only problem...not what I ordered. They were adorably cute! But not what I really had my hopes one. So I sadly dug for the receipt to send it back. There was a "Happy Birthday" message on the receipt from my best friend in Boston. :-)

This was her birthday gift to me!! A licence place cover which I CAN NOT WAIT to put on my car (in case I missed this update- my car got in a little fender-bender and is almost done getting fixed at the shop. Should have it back tomorrow!) and an adorable corgi magnet.

About a week later I received MY package!!

Inside was a mouse pad I desperately needed for my computer at work. And 2 bumper stickers. The Corgi Pals, and Corgi nose art! Which I am going to put in magnets and then on my car. I will get a picture of the license plate over and bumper stickers when I get my car back.

This is my desk at work with my new mouse pad! And it matched my fan. Ignore the cup...it was a souvenir from a cousin's wedding. We are not GT fans in this house.

Vote for Whiskey

The corgi calender is back! Time get your vote on. Go see Kelly at Corgi Butts to vote. She has a really neat voting system this year. There are so many cute ones to chose from I dont know how Kelly picks the finialist. Whiskey made it to the final 30 again this year, and we'd like to may it 2 years in a row in the calendar. Vote for my little stinker #24!!
Thanks. Happy voting!

Bloopers from the corgi calender photo shoots

walking towards daddy with the bag of frozen blueberries

I think she was debating weather or not it was in her best interest to jump ship

The ballerina lost her tu-tu

and leaving the photo taking to my mom, always leads to a cat picture.

Oh and in other news... Remember Our little visitor? She is now a permanent part of the family. Her name is Mackerel aka Mackie/Mackers/Macks. We didn't have the heart to give her up. But she is a great kitten and joy to have around. She is currently at my boyfriends apartment with his and his 2 other cats. Soon all 5 of us will be a family under one roof. Josh and I are looking at apartments.

Little Visitor

We've had a small, but adorable visitor with us this weekend.

It all started Friday, when boyfriend got a call from his good friend that he had a cat hanging around his house and didn't know what to do with it. So what does he do? Call us; the cat people. Boyfriend went over to his house and scooped up the cat, with temperatures rising just about to the 100's I couldn't let it stay outside. He brought it over to my house and put it on out screened porch for the rest of the day until my mom and I got home. This whole time he had said, CAT, I was thinking a little 1 year, small cat.Well to my surprise its a 4-month old kitten! Mom got home first on Friday and took her over to our vet to scan if she had a chip. No chip, but a few fleas. They gave her a little flea pill just to kill them off. Whiskey has been super intrigued by the little one and even went nose to nose to check her out. However, after Whiskey realized the little one was getting slightly more attention she started growling and rough playing with her. Everyone is fine, we just keep a close eye and usually hang with the kitten in a room with the door closed. Because we do have 3 other cats that are just waiting to pounce on the new one. We can not keep this little one. As much and me, my mom, and boyfriend want to. We cant! We plastered the area where she was found with "found cat" posters early Saturday morning. No calls. So who ever lost her doesn't want her back, or she was just dumped and left. I have concocted a few ideas of what to do with her:

1. Just tell my dad (who is the one that does NOT want another cat) its just the stripped one that lost a little bit of weight.

2. Take her to work, and tell the guys she's gonna me the office kitty.

3. Try to pawn her off to my best friend, Dave, to take when he gets his apartment.

And the serious ways to deal with this:

1. Ask one of the guys at work if he wants her (he's a cat person).

2. If he says no, to the humane society she goes.

I am one of those people that gets attached to a damn fair goldfish that lives for 2 weeks. So my heart has grown attached to this little fluff ball. I posted a picture and little caption on facebook saying we had a visitor this weekend. Well my best friend's younger sister's boyfriend may take her. I'm just waiting for a definite response, otherwise its back to plan B from above. Well see what happens. I don't know how I am going to be able to let her go at the humane society if I have too (yes I got voted to do that job). So in the meantime I'm trying to come up with more excuses to tell me dad to let us keep her. Cats are like potato chips once you have more than 1 adding another one isn't a big deal.

Creative Day

This is a 2-part post. First I want to say how PROUD I am of Whiskey! Today while I was sitting on the living room floor I was petting her and our gray (more chilled out cat) came walking by to my other unoccupied hand. I had a duel purpose. Whiskey was giving Baby -Bell (the cat) the evil eye, so kept reassuring her, "Its OK, Its just kitty". While I was looking at Baby-Bell, Whiskey got up very nicely and walked over to Baby. They touched nose-to-nose and Whiskey gave a little lick! I was so proud of both of them. No growling or lunging from Whiskey and no hissing or swatting from the cat! After the lick the cat had enough and walked away. But that is a HUGE milestone in our household and I couldn't be happier. When Whiskey first came into this house she thought the cats were play toys, but the cats wanted nothing to do with her and would hiss and swat. Once they did that Whiskey would growl and go after them leaving many a tufts a fur around the house, and scratched to her nose. I have also been going through my pictures and taking a few extras for Kelly's Corgi Butts & Corgi Butts with blogs calendars. Hopefully I can narrow them down, I don't know how you do it, Kelly.

The other portion of this post. Some of you may know I love painting, and admiring other painters. I have been in love with Miami based painter Romero Britto for a long time, and done my own thing loosely based on his works. Well boyfriend and I went to bed bath, & beyond yesterday and low-and-behold was a section of Romero Britto stuff... place mats of all things! I instantly fell in love! My boyfriend questioned: "Are you really going to eat food off of these?"
Of course NOT. I was going to frame them! I wanted 4 different place mats to make into a square-ish piece, but I could not find 4 that melded well and that I liked enough (there were about 12 to choose from). I love his heart pieces, they are always my favorite. So I settled on 2. They were $7.99 each + my 20% off coupon = $6.70. Not to bad for a piece of art. After BB&B we went to Kohls. I found the perfect frame but left my coupon at home. So today a friend of mine wanted to go to Kohls and I couldn't pass that up. I got 2 framed that were marked at 40% off to begin with and my 30% coupon plus I bought one other frame to put a picture of the boyfriend and myself so 3 framed for $44.00. The frames I bought for the place mats had matting that I was planning on taking out, but I love how they look with the matte. My friend bought 2 nice button down dress shirts and a nice pair of leather (sketcher-like) shoes for $42.00 (with my 30% coupon also)- He saved $105.00. We walked and he very excitedly said "I'm never shopping without you again."
Well here are my framed art work pieces. If I hadn't told you they were place mats would you be able to tell?

They sit on the wall just to the left of my desk.

4th of July 2011

I know I'm a little late with this post, but me pictures have been on my camera, and I haven't really had the time to do much of anything lately.
So here are some picture I took of Whiskey at our lake house for the 4th of July weekend. She absolutely LOVED it up there. It is about a 2 hour car drive from where we live, and she is an awesome car dog. When we had to leave a day early (due to boyfriend getting called into work early) Whiskey was very mad at me from dragging her away from ALL the fun she was having. I wish I had taken more pictures but I was like a little 5-year too, so excited to be up there (we haven't been in a while). So here are some pictures.

Looking out the window at "daddy"

Hanging out on "grandpa's" boat

She stole my chair!

Wading in the water, her favorite part

More wading

Putzing around. She did amazingly well without being on leash she stayed right in our yard (and water)

Chilling with mommy after a long day of running, swimming & barking

I'm cool.

The End
